Changes-The power of religion!

Throughout history, religion has been a key factor in the lives of people. It's been a part of our governments, our education, our interactions with others, and even our military. It has shaped what we've been for so long, sometimes for better, many times for the worst. It caused the constant cycle of destruction and reconstruction in Jerusalem, it spawned the Crusades that devastated both the Mediterranean and Western Europe, and it caused the culling of thousands of Judaic believers.
All of this could be solved by such a simple task.
No more would people be singled out for believing there is just one God rather than three divine entities. No more would we have to worry about people trying to murder multiple innocents for a so-called "holy conflict". No more would we have to create waste money and resources because the government deemed a belief heretical and order the destruction of the practice.
Now there are good points it has brought, such as being a unifying feature for many civilizations, such as the Byzantine empire and the Han Chinese empire. But that unity is easily broken, as seen when those same empires fell due to a foreign religious force.
That leads me to what I have to say now: Why not just truly be done with it? Why not just order everyone to stop practicing religion altogether? We can't bring everyone under on religious banner due to people being so varied and already believing different things. So instead, just eradicate the problem. No differing view, no unwanted conversions, no wars in some higher power's name.
   Simple and efficient.
