Assignment 9 Thomas Kenny

DISCLAIMER: I am a pacifist

In a perfect world, there would be no disagreements, no arguing, no feelings of malice, and no war. Everyone would be in accordance with one another, and with nothing to fight over, there would be no fighting. However, we do not live in a perfect world; our world is far from it. As long as there is someone willing to use violence as a means of getting what they want, there will be war. Violence, and therefore warfare is simply the most effective way of bending those less powerful than oneself to one’s will, as you can either force your opposition into submission or eliminate it outright. Outside of the political spectrum or Hollywood, non-violent methods can only persuade. No matter how good at using rhetoric one is, if their object of persuasion refuses to budge, they are powerless in the situation. However, if they hold a loaded gun to that person’s head and the person refuses, they can commit a disgusting, unjust act that eliminates all resistance.
