Changes! --Raiffa S.

Every few months or so I have an epiphany. But its always the same one. Maybe each time I realize it I try to quickly block it out of my memory as to make it nonexistent. But anyways, the epiphany occurred to me again recently.

Girls aren’t funny.

They just aren’t. Well more like not funny compared to guys but what else are you gonna compare it to? A cat?

Well if you did they’d probably beat us out.

And I’m not trying to be all feministy “down with the patriarchy, let’s all take off our shirts” kinda thing but I kinda am. Boys are funnier just because they are boys.

A girl cannot be funny unless they are an established comedian and impressively funny or acting dumb, like a ditzy dumbass. But a guy can show up somewhere in a dress and it’s the funniest thing ever.

So my job in taking on this new shirtless matriarchal soldier is to propose a solution.

Why don’t we integrate and require humor classes in our schools to teach students the correct sense of humor. These classes would begin as early as reading and writing to develop our children correctly. Of course we would start their studies out with fundamentals like pain is funny, repeating something thrice is funny, and something out of the ordinary is funny. Then, once we build the solid foundation, we can introduce more advanced topics like sarcasm. With a standardized curriculum of humor each person will develop an indistinguishable sense of humor.

Now these classes are not directly geared toward raising the future comedians of our world, but to create those who will accurately judge the comedy of others. No more will gender or race or age be an issue if we educate those on what is actually funny and what is not. Everyone will understand exactly what is humorous and as long as a comedian executes the techniques taught in the school lessons they will be successful in obtaining that roaring crowd of laughter.

With my proposed solution not only will this solve the various inequalities blended into our world but we will help our children be in tune with their creative sides. Taught alongside math and English, these humor classes will create generally well rounded individuals who are blind to discrimination.
