Assignment 9: What is it good for? - Thomas Stokes

Is there a time for war? I would think you should only go to war if it is entirely necessary for the future welfare of your nation. I would say that war is morally just, but not always right. War can be morally right if you are fighting one who would slay the innocent, but otherwise I couldn't see it being morally right. I also think that it is a necessary evil. In all the time that we have existed, it is inevitable that something malicious will happen to someone and they will try to defend themselves. As far as responsibility for going to war, I don't think that any country has the responsibility for it, but it would be just if a party wanted to go to war to defend themselves or an ally of themselves. There are many alternatives for war, such as diplomacy.  I think that many people have very different opinions in this area.
