Flying Turkeys-Sydney Taylor

Thanksgiving for me is waking up early(for me) but still later than the rest of my family. Then I get sucked into the meal preparation mess in the kitchen while attempting to steal a few minutes at a time in front of the tv to see some of the Macy's parade. My mom does most of the cooking with some help from my sisters and me, but our main task is setting the table with my mom's Disney-themed holiday dishes. My aunt, uncle, cousins, and grandmother all come over to our house and for dinner we have turkey, ham, stuffing, deviled eggs, green beans, broccoli casserole, and my absolute favorite, mashed potatoes. The best part about the mashed potatoes is that hardly any of them get eaten due to the immense amount of other food on the table so I have leftovers for days. After dinner the whole family plays games, usually card games like Rook, and then the screaming ensues. My aunt is kind of crazy and any time we play games it gets even worse because she's so competitive. Her and my mom together is just a tornado of loud and blonde. Even though the day is usually a little stressful and very hectic, I like thanksgiving because being with my family is fun and the food is always great.
