Assignment 3: Come to the dark side, Luke-Mia Alexander

The argument always comes done to morality. Whether it be within oneself or between others, the question usually comes down to: Is it  all for the common good? Is it morally correct? Without a doubt, I believe in good and evil. It is not up to me to say what is good or evil, though. Here on earth there will constantly be this war between the two but I know that in Heaven, only good exist. Good will eventually eliminate evil in the end. I believe good is things that don't produce guilt or at least as much guilt as evil. In fact, evil is done with intentions to hurt others. At the same time, evil is too severe of a word. I think the gray area is the "less good".

One of the rare occasions that evil is done to do good is betraying a friend to benefit them. For example, you know a friend has been partaking in activities that you know are not safe and they tell you in confidence. In typical situations, this would mean it stayed between you and the friend but you know it is turning into a problem., so you rat the friend out and they never forgive you but they stop and continue to live a healthy life. Yes, it was wrong to do but ultimately it was done with good intentions. There is definitive lines between good and evil but also exceptions to those divisions.

There are definitely explanations (excuses) that somewhat excuse evil or the "less good". One day, at my job, a woman with her kids came to buy food. It was just a normal order but there was over 10 dollars worth of food and her card was denied. I was not ringing her up but I did help the person who was. We did everything we could- swipe, type in numbers, and switch cards-but nothing worked. The manager was out and a line was forming, everyone became a frazzled at the moment and we just blamed it on the machine, so we gave her the free food. Thankfully, nobody else after her spoke up, but was it justified? I don't think it is up to me or anybody else to set standards on whether something is good or evil because there are always going to be reasons we do the things we do. It is also not our job to judge others or ourselves.
