Assignment 19: Plastics - Thomas Stokes

Sometimes your parents tell you some advice, but you've already picked it up. You know, its parent talk. Something a parent tells their kid no matter what kind of parent you are or what the kids are like. Things like saying please and thank you, treat others how you want to be treated, etc.. My dad is notorious for this, and then also notorious for turning any topic into a full blown speech or discussion. My father's never given me any specifically profound piece of advice, but that doesn't stop him from trying to teach me the how-to's and what-not's of many of "life's wonders." My father would attend Cotillion and was very stern in his usage of table manners and treatment of others. From this I've learned three essential things to have a more orderly life. One, when you're at a proper dinner, you use the proper table manners. Know your silverware, lefts and rights, appetizers - entree - desserts. Two, treat everyone with respect, no matter what your opinions of them are. You say ma'am and sir to elders unless they tell you otherwise, it's polite and shows you respect them. Three, try your hardest to not be a stubborn idiot. Always be open to experience. You can't better yourself if you refuse to admit that there are things you can do better. These three rules allow you to have a fuller experience and open many doors. They help build relations and show that you can be professional when it's called for.
