Plastics - Keanu Gomez

Ever since I was kid, I have been more of the shy and reserved type. I was always afraid to speak in front of people. So whenever time came to present a project in front of the class, it was always a struggle. As thousands of convoluted thoughts run through my head, I can’t keep myself from experiencing extreme anxiety during times like these. Because of this, my mom gave me a piece of advice that I have never forgotten, especially because she keeps on reminding me till this day. She told me, “Do not be shy when you’re not doing anything wrong. The only time you should be shy is when you’re doing something you know is wrong.” Although it may seem very simple, this piece of advice has helped me in many moments of my life. From performing at a piano recital, to giving a persuasive speech, little by little, I have started to overcome my reserved nature and have begun to take more confidence in myself.
