Although I was not alive when this event occurred, I still feel the pain when it is mentioned in conversation. This picture is of Christian Laettner, Duke legend and every UK fan's least favorite person. With seconds winding down in the final quarter, it appeared that the underdog Wildcats were going to pull off the upset to make their way into the Final Four in the 1992 NCAA tournament. After a full court pass from another Duke legend, Grant Hill, Laettner makes a mildly contested jumper. Doesn't sound that impressive, right? But this is a key moment that fueled Duke and Kentucky's large rivalry. It comes up in every argument about who's better whether the person was alive to see it or not. Duke still shows the play in their commercials, which really builds the tension between fans. This moment in time was devastating for die hard UK fans, who will never forgive Laettner for what he did, even though he said he had no problems with Kentucky basketball.
