Fears: failure, getting stung by an insect, being unemployed
after college
Annoyances: ignorance, repeating mistakes, spitefulness
Accomplishments: never been stung by an insect, passing
multiple AP exams, being hired as a bagboy at Kroger
Confusions: racism in modern society, impulse shoppers, drug
abuse
Sorrows: self-pity, unfit to play most sports competitively
(injury), admitted laziness/procrastination
Dreams: living with financial stability to do the things
that I want to do, playing video games professionally (almost there,
seriously!)
Idiosyncrasies: play a lot of video games, don’t watch television
or movies often, parents are local celebrities
Risks: using firearms recreationally, procrastination,
inconsistent diet habits
Beloved Possessions: baseball memorabilia, checking account,
computer, violin
Problems: procrastination (it’s a motif), A.D.D., cramped
schedule
Seeing as how I’m submitting blog posts in the hours before
the due date rolls over despite having a semester to complete them, I have a
persistent problem with procrastination. For whatever reason, this problem has
become more severe as I’ve grown older. If I were in fifth grade writing these,
they would most likely be submitted around 4 in the afternoon. I am a person
who works well under pressure, and my theory is that as my ability to complete
tasks quickly has improved, so has my ability to wait til the last minute to
accomplish said tasks. There are advantages, such as my performance on timed
writings. I’ve always been a stronger writer of on-demand pieces than of pieces
with faraway due dates. However, the advantages are not worth the
disadvantages, such as losing sleep to stay up late and finish homework
assignments. I probably take the phrase “Work smarter, not harder” a bit too seriously.
