This photo is of a sailor and a nurse engaging in a passionate and celebratory kiss. This photo was taken right at the end of World War Two, when everyone was just happy to be alive and happy to be an American. This photo is recognized all over the world and has been researched incredibly well. The story goes it was impulsive and out of the blue. A sailor and a nurse who didn't know each other at all shared one of the most intimate things humans do. Just a touch of the lips. What is even more insane is that this event was caught on camera. This contributes to some of the question around this photo. It's all very convenient. But that, that's the beauty in it. At any single moment in time, amazing things are going on everywhere. This is one photo that takes my breath away every time I set my eye on it.
