Assignment 11: Do you know your neighbor

I sit by Amir this year. It is no secret that he is one brilliant person. From the little time I have sat next to him, I have learned that he is very humble about his intelligence. I respect him for this in so many ways because it is one thing to be one of the smartest people in the room but to also be one of the most humble people, is amazing to me.  I always see him give his best effort on any and everything.
Amir is passionate about film and film history. His passion doesn't just cover those broad areas, music and art are interests of his as well. His favorite directors are Ranier Werner Fassbinder and the Japanese master Akira Kurosawa.
I asked him what he wanted to do after high school and he told me he wanted to pursue a career in film as well as teach others about film. I truly believe he will be one of the most innovative and creative director/ screenwriter of our time. I remember asking him what he does when he is bored and he responded with " I write." I wish I could just sit and write like that.
Anyways, I can not wait to get to know Amir even more throughout the school year.

A side note... anytime I score well on vocabulary quizzes, Amir writes good job. To some people, that is no big deal, we've all heard it from a teacher before. But, it is just nice to see it on a piece of paper from a peer. At KYA this year, the word emphasized the most was COMPASSION and I think Amir embodies that word. (sorry for being super cheesy!)
