Hooray For Hollywood-Andrew Hardy

Danny Boyle is a virtuoso of many talents. Only such a creative genius could direct the London Olympic opening ceremony  and zombie movies, and succeed with such flying colours. Two of his masterpieces 28 Days Later and Trainspotting showcase his talents. At first glance, the two films are a drastic difference in content and approach. But Danny Boyle's distinctive touch appears throughout. Both films are about isolation. Whether it's because one survives a zombie outbreak, or succumbs to a heroin addiction, the rest of the population appears alien. Attempting to integrate yourself into this changing world and protect yourself from the dangers is a challenging task, and an even more challenging one to display in film. His rapid cuts and breathtaking soundtracks aid in the tension built by the brutal acting, that scenes of Boyle's mirror Aronofsky(another brilliant protrayer of heroin culture) in uncomfortableness. These visceral portrayals of life so foreign to the average viewer also increase the empathy of that sort of inconceivable pain. It's no coincidence the Queen of England allowed him to direct her in the staged parachute jump.
